multisite: what's our policy about it?

I guess I installed wrongly but multi site mode was dead slow in production for me with mod_rack (It seems it reloads everything for every request like in development mode, but I didn't investigate cos I needed adva only for one site at the moment).
Anyhow what's current policy about multi site, are we planning to support it out of the box or more as an advance stuff?
I personally think multi side out of the box might be a bit overkill, what do you think?

Priit, the policy is to ship with single-site enabled by default but definitely support multi-site, too.
The most compelling reason for the single-site default is that multi-site will always require some additional server-side config for the page cache etc.
Do you still experience the slowliness on mod_rack? Sounds weird.
