UI: index consistency
Reported by Priit Tamboom | December 16th, 2008 @ 01:52 PM
I get confused what behavior links have at several indexes. Sometimes they open preview, sometimes edit page etc. Item menu does not have same orders, sometimes there is edit icon first, sometimes icon preview first etc. So we need to review it and settle down some rules (anyhow we need those docs for people who would like write adva engines)
/admin/sites: link goes show method; menu: edit, delete, view
~articles: link goes edit method; menu: preview, edit, delete
~newsletters: link goes show method; menu: edit, delete
etc

Priit,
I agree we should try to make it more consistent at some point.
An overview list of what we have would be great for this.

I made list of index consistency and draft proposed one. link: http://wiki.github.com/svenfuchs...
Currently open question: where should we put frontend preview. It's a bit tricky, cos personally I don't like frontend links mixed with backend links. Any suggestions where to put it?

Hmm, in general I think it'd make sense to have a link to the frontend
for every object that has a unique place in the frontend. Like, when
you review a blog article comment in the backend and wonder what the
context is. So you want to quickly navigate to the frontend. Same goes
for wikipages, forum topics and ... basically most of the first class
objects we have. -

I think consistency problem is resolved with the table builder. I assume that the consistency problems are solved with our new backend layout.
