UI: how can I make a "page"?

Reported by Priit Tamboom | December 16th, 2008 @ 02:23 PM

Don't get me wrong, I like the articles but when user uses adva first time then I hear question: how can I make just simple PAGE?

I think it's important to use also word "page" or smith similar istead of sections/articles. It confuses a lot when you just want make simple static page "hello world".

Articles are fine and they have their place at adva, but "Page" should be there for sure for basic static stuff.

I guess we all agree that two things currently are somehow confusing: the naming "Section" which both refers to the Section base class and the section type as well as the fact that you need to create a "root article" for a "section" to just create a single page.

This is on the list to be changed, but we still need to figure out a compelling and intuitive way to model these things.

Another, related, common request is that some people want to assemble several bits of content or "items" on one "page". E.g. you could add some text, then some widget (photos from an album), then a todolist. (Reminds me of Backpack.)

I guess the biggest hurdle here is to find some powerful generic/abstract concepts that can be reused and make sense in several usecases/scenarios (both simple scenarios and power-users).
