Entering and displaying dates
Reported by Thomas R. Koll | December 18th, 2008 @ 12:59 PM | in Release 0.1.1
The site model has a timezone that can be changed by the admin. This timezone should be the one used for entering and displaying dates throughout the front- and backend. Dates should be stored in the database as UTC (Rails standard behavior).
For entering dates in the backend we'd like to see a Javascript widget.
Suggestions: - All dates entered by the user are considered to be in the site's time zone but are saved to the database in UTC. - All dates are displayed in the site's time zone. - Use the date microformat used by adva-cms (see engines/adva_cms/public/javascripts/application.js). - Change event start and end date to datetime_select fields. - Provide a check box named "All day" (similar to iCal). - Generally for the behavior of this form check iCal. - (optional) Build/integrate a JavaScript date selector widget that can sit on top of the datetime_select fields and allows for easier date selection.
