How to Self-Publish an Audio Book

Reported by HypatiaHebe | December 29th, 2022 @ 04:17 AM

If you are planning on self-publishing an audio book, there are several steps you will need to take. Whether you want to distribute your work via a platform or through iTunes, Audible, or any of the other major players, you need to know how to get your book in place.

The first step is to choose the correct file format. For example, if you want your audiobook to be distributed on Audible, you need to have an MP3 or WAV file that is compatible with their specifications. This means that you need to have professional equipment for your project.

You will also need to make sure your audiobook has a suitable cover. Ensure that the cover art meets the retailer's specifications. Also, be sure to check for any typographical errors that may be present.

When you are done with your audiobook, you will need to complete some post-production work. This can take up to 20 to 30 hours. While you are working on your audiobook, you might have to repeat certain segments or re-narrate your book.

If you are planning on self-publishing your audiobook, you will need to make sure that you have access to a professional recording studio. It is important to have a soundproof space, a good recording system, and professional software.

You will need to download a program called OverDrive. It is free, but you will need a library card to use it.

Once you have your files prepared, you can upload them to ACX. These are the biggest audiobook publishers, and you will receive 40% of your royalties.
